Greetings all! It is March. If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent some time researching amazing women in history, the Founding Mothers, and numerous change-makers this month (and every month).
It is great to see so many amazing female leaders, both throughout history and those making history among us today.
Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the amazing women in our lives as well as the amazing women who, throughout history, have sacrificed so much to help us get to where we are as a society. In this post, I am going to highlight a few women who I think would make amazing unit studies or independent studies for homeschooling, for this month and every month!
Bessie Coleman
Sojourner Truth
Corrie ten Boom
Sonya Sotomayor
Malala Yousafzai
Maya Angelou
Wangari Maathai
Debra Haaland
Zitkala Sa
Remember, Women’s History Month doesn’t end when March ends, so keep learning!
These historical figures mentioned above made significant contributions to different aspects of American and/or global history, and I found their stories quite fascinating. It is good to diversify your research and learn more about the unique and diverse African American perspectives that helped to shape our world.*
